Fuel for the Fire (4/5)

This morning, I started a new regimen at a new gym. Exciting, yet a but unnerving at the same time. Will this fresh start take hold, or will the vigor and drive to make a difference in my life fall to the wayside again?

This morning, I did a few laps in the pool, followed by 20 minutes on the elliptical. Feels good, and I'm up and about early.

Physical tonight... More to come on that!

April Fool? Or is it "April Fuel"? (4/1)

Finally got back to the gym today. And I was not pleased with the scale's judgement of my failures thus far. Not that I mind the number -- I've been 30 pounds heavier within the past two years!

So, for my first official weigh-in, here on "April Fool's Day": 320.0. Yeah, I know. Terrible.

But perhaps this gut-punch will remind me of the long-term goal. It brings into specific relief the steps that must be made -- and maintained -- to reach the finish line. Perhaps this will be my "April Fuel"...

God gives us these moments in life to remind us of His presence every day. He is also known for providing a jolting "reality check" when we become hubristic. You could say that He pulls the rug out from under our feet, causing us stumble to a genuflection. This isn't to say that He is malicious or defeatist, but rather a Maker who continues to mold us as He did in the beginning.

How's that for EVOLUTION??
