Halfway, already? (3/31)

I can't believe we're halfway through Lent already! The choir has started rehearsing those familiar Easter tones, and that perfect First Communion dress has been found. Six weeks seems like such a long time, but when it's in motion it goes fast!

I haven't really followed the stringent rules I wanted to during this time -- I've only been to the gym once since Ash Wednesday. But, I am trying to follow the Great Lenten Fast as much as possible, avoiding snacks between meals, eating meatless meals whenever possible. I've also curbed my addiction to coffee. What a shake-up that was!

This Lent has brought on new challenges, and also closure to old wounds. Must be careful though, as to not become overconfident in "my works". One must be cognisant with daily actions, and understand that he is only a steward of the many gifts from God.

The Truth (3/14)

The Truth Will Set You Free.

But first it will need to be cultivated among the weeds, until they grow up together. Then the farmer will reap both crops and burn the weeds in the unquenchable fire.

Sounds catchy, no?

St. Peter the Spaniard (3/11)

I love "God-incidences"...

So here it is, First Friday of Lent.

Saint of the Day? St. Peter the Spaniard, a famous penitent.

On the menu? Cheese Quesadillas.

'Nuff said.

Took a mile-long walk with the girls and visited the new baby. Avoided being spit up on ;-)

Ash Wednesday (3/9)

"Turn away from sin and be faithful to the gospel."

And so begins the journey to Easter.

The fast was easy to a point, just need to drink more water. Apparently, your body goes into a conniption if you stop consuming caffeine...

Walked a mile-and-a-half with a slight chill in the air... And stopped for a few frames of bowling along the way!

What can I say? Cardio and Aerobics make the best exercise routine.

So I'm through day one and looking forward to the next 39 days...

Fat Tuesday 2011 (3/8)

The two fat guys are back! Follow us as we journey through the 40 days of Lent, following the Great Lenten Fast. We'll post our weekly weigh-ins, along with quotes, musings, and writings by the Church fathers which help keep our minds and bodies tuned in this season of penance and growth.

Bill will not be using Facebook during this time, along with other electronic distractions... But more on that later...

Tonight is Carnival --- Literally "Farewell to Meat". So for Fat Tuesday, Mardi Gras, Shrove Tuesday -- whatever you want to call it, we're getting together for one last feast of Steak Fajitas with the works!
